Tiny Painting Workshop
I’m delighted to be offering a “Pop-Up” Tiny Painting Workshop at the beautiful and historic Newton Abbot Library in Devon on Saturday, 25 October 2025 from 10am-4pm.
YOU can paint a Tiny Painting!
In this workshop you will:
•Learn the secrets for creating your own tiny paintings.
•Learn to simplify complicated scenes into pleasing compositions.
•Learn to mix colour confidently with a limited palette.
•Create TWO tiny paintings!
•Receive individualised advice from Leslie to help you improve your art.
The day will begin with an introduction to Leslie’s style of creating her tiny paintings in “line and wash” – or ink and watercolour. She will share some of her favourite paintings and explain the process behind creating them, including the importance of drawing and composition.
Next, Leslie will lead you though some explorations of your limited palette to help you understanding how to mix colours intentionally. You will gain confidence with your palette and learn how to mix the colours that you see in the landscape.
Leslie will guide you, step-by-step, through the creation of a tiny painting, using her 5-step approach. This will enable her to walk you through the process, taking the time to help you with personalised advice.
In the afternoon, Leslie will lead you through some group drawing exercises designed to unleash your creativity and help you simplify the three-dimensional world on a tiny surface without getting overly technical. You will then create your own tiny painting from an image brought by you (or choose one supplied by Leslie) using the techniques introduced in the morning step-by-step with Leslie by your side, offering guidance, tips, and encouragement.
This workshop is suitable for artists of all levels.
