EVERYONE can learn to draw!

·     Have you always wanted to draw, but have no idea where to begin?

·     Do you already know the basics of drawing, but feel that you just aren’t progressing as much as you would like to?

·     Do you love to paint, but your paintings aren’t convincing because your drawing skills aren’t what they should be?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, this is the class for you!

Drawing is the foundation for all art. Did you know that VanGogh drew for two years before he attempted to paint anything? It’s true. Learning how to draw will help you grow in confidence as an artist, whether you are a beginner or have been creating art for your entire life. Developing a regular drawing practice will help you see the world in a new way. In addition, it has been scientifically proven to:

·     Improve creativity

·     Improve memory

·     Improve problem-solving skills

·     Relieve stress

·     Improve mobility and coordination

·     Increase positive emotions

You will be introduced to the fundamentals of drawing while training your eye to see objects as they really are, and not as your brain perceives them to be. Drawing on traditional skills, I will lead you through a series of projects that will have you producing work that makes you proud. Using a combination of drawing from life and photos, you will learn essential concepts like line, shape, value, perspective and composition. You will draw still life objects, animals, and landscapes during this course with both graphite and charcoal.

It is recommended that you take this course for two sessions (6 weeks each) in order to best learn and practice all of the basic elements of drawing. However, this is not a prerequisite. The first 6 weeks will focus on line, shape, value and form. The second 6 weeks will introduce space, texture, composition and perspective.

Materials: Supply list will be provided upon registration.

Age: Suitable for over 16

Tuition: £122 for 6 week course

This class will be taught online via Zoom. This will require students to have a webcam or ability to access video conferencing.
