Learning the Basics of Nontoxic Oil Painting - SOLD OUT

Class time: Wednesdays 1-3pm GMT

Dates: 6 weeks - August 24, 31, September 7, 14, 21, 28

This course is designed to introduce students to nontoxic oil painting. Nontoxic oil paints contain the same pigments and binders (linseed oil) as traditional oils but have the added benefit of being able to be temporarily mixed with water, which eliminates the need for harmful solvents. Advice will be given and demonstrated about other nontoxic oils, gels and mediums that can be used to enhance performance. I successfully made the transition to painting with nontoxic oils and have run a successful nontoxic studio for over a decade. The health benefits are immeasurable.

In this class you will:

  • Learn specifics about your materials, including different painting surfaces and brushes and how to use them for the best effect.

  • Explore traditional methods of painting, including grisaille, glazing, scumbling, and alla prima.

  • Learn the basics of colour mixing and colour harmony.

  • Create engaging still life and portrait paintings from direct observation and visual aids.

Class size is limited to 12 students to ensure personalised attention.

Materials: Supply list will be provided upon registration

Age: Suitable for over 16

Tuition: £122 for 6 week course

This class will be taught online via Zoom. This will require students to have a webcam or ability to access video conferencing.
